Self Publishing Your Book
The Idea: This is the hard part, determining the topic for your manuscript. You'd be surprised at the amount of ideas
you might think of throughout the day that are thrown out because they're thought of as too simple to be of use. But most
of the time "simple" information is what people are looking for! Throughout our lives we experience and have learned so much.
You might think this information would not be of use to anyone else, but you'd be surprised how useful our experiences could
be to someone else. Self publishing the experiences and knowledge you've accumulated could help someone or be exciting to
read.
Planning your Product: Always keep your book to the point and informative. Write approximately 100 pages, which, equals
50, two sided pages. The content of your manuscript should include a title page with copyright, a table of contents,
references, acknowledgments, content, and index. This should be the basic minimum requirements for your book and it's content.
You can always add other items.
The Manuscript: Now that you've decided on your idea, you'll need to create the outline to define it's content. You should
break the idea into blocks of information. Now you should go through your idea, from general information to specific information.
Check your outline multiple times, and have someone review it, to make sure everything is filled in right.
The Copyright: Protect your work, by copyrighting your book. This is a simple process. There are several methods
to protect your work. Check with your government and commercial organizations for the proper steps to insure this process.
