Book Cover Design
- Looks Is Key
A good looking book cover is key to capturing someones attention. A good looking cover should be a must for someone writing
a book. Do you know that someone that looks at your book cover for a few seconds or less will either be enticed to want to
read for more which could result in a sale or be turn off and look elsewhere. You'll need to know what catches a future customer's
eyes. The place to begin is your family and friends. Ask their honest opinions. If your not comfortable with this choice post
your book cover on the internet and ask for feedback. The only risk in doing this is it could be stolen by someone else, so
do this only if your sure someone else won't swipe it. Always remember that you taste may be be different than others and
not all will agree with your choice.
This also applies to the back cover of your book. If your book is about fiction, be sure the customer's entertainment
dollars are well worth buying your book. If it is a non-fiction, show your future customer the his or her purchase is well
worth it. Does you book help solve a customers problem? Many people want and like to know what it is they are buying and how
will it benefit them. Also, show them that you book is a better quality than others in the same category.
The spine is also important and often over looked. Your book's spine should stand out and attract your future customer's
eyes. The price of your book is also very important, price according to other similar books, otherwise they might be turned
off and look else where. Too low of a price could work just the opposite and make your book seem as if it's a low quality
product.
Whether your going with self publishing, small press or with a large publishing company, your book will be competing
with many others, make your stand out. Quality counts!
